Video Playlists are posts that group together Video posts into a single post type, allowing Videos to be played in a specific order automatically. Since Video posts contain embedded content from YouTube, Video Playlists can only contain YouTube videos.
All the Video Playlists on the site can be found on the Video Playlists archive page.
Search and filter options are provided to narrow down results and each Video Playlist listing shows a featured image, the name and avatar of the user who created the Video Playlist, the number of Videos featured in the Video Playlist and the number of Favourites.
Clicking anywhere on the listing item will take you to single Video Playlist post. Each Video Playlist post is broken down into 3 sections: the Header, The Sidebar and the Content.
THE HEADER– This is a large banner and contains the main information about the Video Playlist.

Edit Button – Click this button to edit the Video Playlist. A modal will pop up with a form. This is the same form used for adding new Video Playlists, except the fields will already be filled in with the relevant values.
Simply add or change what you want and click the Update button to edit the Video Playlist. You will only see this button if you’re the author of the Video Playlist post.
THE SIDEBAR – The Sidebar contains stat boxes showing how many of certain types of content are featured in this Video Playlist.
The first one shows how many Video Creators are featured in this Video Playlist, based on the Video Creators linked to the Videos featured in the Video Playlist, along with a count in parenthesis of how many Videos by that Video Creator have been added to the Video Playlist.
If Characters are also tagged in this Video Playlist, then a second stat box will list those Characters, along with a count in parenthesis of how many Videos they are featured in.
THE CONTENT – This is the main feature of a Video Playlist page. It includes:
The Playlist – The playlist itself features the following elements:
Player – This is the main window that plays the video content. It takes up half of the playlist on the left side (or top if on mobile).
Playlist Items – This is the listing of the Videos featured in the Playlist. Each listing contains:
- Video Thumbnail – This is a small thumbnail of the featured image of the Video post.
- Video Title – This is the title of the Video post. If the title is really long, it is shortened with an ellipsis (…) at the end. Hover over the title and it will scroll to the left, revealing the full title.
- Video Creator/s – This is the name of the Video Creator/s of the Video post.
- Play/Pause Button – This will change to either a Play or Pause icon depending on the state of the track.
- Favourites – This is the number of times the Video post has been Favourited, shortened to ‘Favs’.
Playlist Controls – At the bottom are the Playlist Controls. Included is a Previous button to go back to the previous Video. A Play/Pause button to Pause or Resume the currently playing Video. And a Next button to skip to the next Video in the Playlist.
Video Playlists do not play automatically when the page loads and you will see the Playlist in a default state, with the first Video item highlighted in an orange frame.
Clicking anywhere within a Playlist item block will start playing that Video. A loud speaker icon will display over the thumbnail along with text saying ‘NOW PLAYING’.
Pause icons will be displayed where relevant – within the main Player window (the native YouTube play button), within the Playlist item block of the currently playing Video and on the Playlist Controls at the bottom. Click any of these to pause the currently playing Video.
All the pause icons will now switch to play icons. A muted speaker icon will display over the thumbnail along with text saying ‘PAUSED’. Click any of these play icons to resume playing the Video.
You can Favourite or Unfavourite Video posts in this Playlist, but you can only do so on the currently playing Video.
Note that clicking the ‘Favs’ button will actually pause or resume the Video depending on its current state.
