There are multiple ways to add Video Playlists. The most obvious way to add new Video Playlists is from the Video Playlists Archive page.
At the top of the page listing all the Video Playlists on the site, you’ll see an ‘Add New Video Playlist’ button if you’re logged in.
This will open a modal with the Add New Video Playlist form.
You can also add new Video Playlists from individual Video pages.
Below the count of how many Video Playlists the Video is already in, if any, you’ll see two buttons: one labeled ‘Add To Video Playlist’, and one labelled ‘Add New Video Playlist’ which will bring up the Add New Video Playlist form in a modal.
Click the ‘Add To Video Playlist’ button to bring up a modal.
In the box on the left you’ll see all of your Video Playlist posts listed (only Video Playlists you created will be listed here). Any Video Playlists this Video have already been added to will be listed in the box on the right. You can select any Video Playlist on the left to add it to the box on the right.
To remove this Video from a Video Playlist, hover over the Video Playlist on the right and click the minus icon.
Note that any Private Video Playlists will also appear here if you have created any, but these will not appear in the ‘Featured In {amount} Video Playlists’ modal and are not included towards to total count.
You will also notice that you can add a New Video Playlist in this modal using the ‘ Add New Video Playlist’ button on the bottom-right. Once you fill out the form and click Submit, the new Video Playlist will automatically be added to the box on the right in the first modal. You can then click ‘Add/Update’ in that modal and the Video will be added to that new Video Playlist and the ‘Featured In {Amount} Video Playlists’ will be updated.
The Add New Video Playlist Form
Here’s a breakdown of a New Video Playlist form.
Video Playlist Name – This is the name of the Video Playlist.
Featured Image – This is the Featured Image of the Video Playlist that will appear in listings. Click the ‘Add Image’ button to upload the image from your computer or mobile device.
Another modal will pop up, where you can either select an existing image you’ve uploaded before, or upload a new one by clicking the ‘Upload Files’ tab:
If uploading a new image file, you can either drag it into the upload box or click the ‘Select Files’ button to select the image file from your computer:
The minimum Width and Height for Video Playlist image files is 600px. This is because that is the cropped thumbnail size for the main listings on the site and the layout of those pages would not look optimal otherwise. The maximum file size has also been set at 3MB. This is to save on resources. We are hosting all media on Life Is Strange Fans on an Amazon S3 bucket and we’re paying a monthly charge for hosting those files as well as each time they’re requested by users visiting the site. There are lots of resources for reducing the file size of images without noticeably sacrificing quality, but we highly recommend Tiny JPG or Tiny PNG.
If you make a mistake or want to change the image assigned to this Music Playlist post, click the ‘X’ icon in the top-tight of the image. You can then click the ‘Add Image’ button again to add a new image.
Header Image – This is a large banner background for the Video Playlist.
Featured Characters – Start typing in the field to find Characters and click to add them. Select any Characters that are featured in the Video Playlist.
This field is used for filtering, allowing Fans to quickly find any other Video Playlists featuring these Characters.
Games – Click the selection box and then click any Game that is relevant to the Video Playlist to add it. You may choose more than 1 Game if the Video Playlist features Videos related to multiple games in the franchise.
Tags – Start typing in the field to find any relevant Tags and click to add them.
If you want to add any new Tags, click the ‘Add New Tag’ button and in the popup box, enter the name of the Tag and click ‘Add Tag’. The Tag will be added to this Video Playlist post automatically but will appear in the choices when adding any new Video Playlist posts in the future.
If the Tag already exists you’ll be notified. Search for that Tag in the field instead to add it to the Video Playlist.
Please note that in order to help Fans find the content they want, adding Tags is mandatory (denoted by the red asterisk). Consider the Characters related to the Video Playlist, genres, or anything else that might be significant. Tags such as ‘Max’, ‘Trailers’, ‘Favourite Clips’, are all relevant, useful Tags.
Add To Music Playlist – This is where you can add Videos to your new Video Playlist at the same time you are creating it. However, you do not actually have to select anything here when creating new Video Playlists. You can create an empty Video Playlist initially and then use the ‘Add To Video Playlist’ button on any Video post to add that Video to the new Video Playlist, which will appear in the box on the left once you’ve created it.
Privacy – The final field is where you set whether you want the new Video Playlist to be Public or Private.
Just check the desired box to determine the Privacy level. Public Video Playlists can be seen and Favourited by everyone. Private Video Playlists will not appear in public listings and if you add Videos to them, they will not be counted towards the total count on the ‘Featured In {amount} Video Playlists’ modal on any single Video posts.
