There are multiple ways to add Music Playlists. The most obvious way to add new Music Playlists is from the Music Playlists Archive page.
At the top of the page listing all the Music Playlists on the site, you’ll see an ‘Add New Music Playlist’ button if you’re logged in.
This will open a modal with the Add New Music Playlist form.
You can also add new Music Playlists from individual Music pages.
Below the count of how many Music Playlists the Music is already in, if any, you’ll see two buttons: one labeled ‘Add To Music Playlist’, and one labelled ‘Add New Music Playlist’ which will bring up the Add New Music Playlist form in a modal.
Click the ‘Add To Music Playlist’ button to bring up a modal.
In the box on the left you’ll see all of your Music Playlist posts listed (only Music Playlists you created will be listed here). Any Music Playlists this Music have already been added to will be listed in the box on the right. You can select any Music Playlist on the left to add it to the box on the right.
To remove this Music from a Music Playlist, hover over the Music Playlist on the right and click the minus icon.
Note that any Private Music Playlists will also appear here if you have created any, but these will not appear in the ‘Featured In {amount} Music Playlists’ modal and are not included towards to total count.
You will also notice that you can add a New Music Playlist in this modal using the ‘ Add New Music Playlist’ button on the bottom-right. Once you fill out the form and click Submit, the new Music Playlist will automatically be added to the box on the right in the first modal. You can then click ‘Add/Update’ in that modal and the Music will be added to that new Music Playlist and the ‘Featured In {Amount} Music Playlists’ will be updated.
The Add New Music Playlist Form
Here’s a breakdown of a New Music Playlist form.
Music Playlist Name – This is the name of the Music Playlist.
Featured Image – This is the Featured Image of the Music Playlist that will appear in listings. Click the ‘Add Image’ button to upload the image from your computer or mobile device.
Another modal will pop up, where you can either select an existing image you’ve uploaded before, or upload a new one by clicking the ‘Upload Files’ tab:
If uploading a new image file, you can either drag it into the upload box or click the ‘Select Files’ button to select the image file from your computer:
The minimum Width and Height for Music Playlist image files is 600px. This is because that is the cropped thumbnail size for the main listings on the site and the layout of those pages would not look optimal otherwise. The maximum file size has also been set at 3MB. This is to save on resources. We are hosting all media on Life Is Strange Fans on an Amazon S3 bucket and we’re paying a monthly charge for hosting those files as well as each time they’re requested by users visiting the site. There are lots of resources for reducing the file size of images without noticeably sacrificing quality, but we highly recommend Tiny JPG or Tiny PNG.
If you make a mistake or want to change the image assigned to this Music Playlist post, click the ‘X’ icon in the top-tight of the image. You can then click the ‘Add Image’ button again to add a new image.
Header Image – This is a large banner background for the Music Playlist.
Featured Characters – Start typing in the field to find Characters and click to add them. Select any Characters that are featured in the Music Playlist.
This field is used for filtering, allowing Fans to quickly find any other Music Playlists featuring these Characters.
Games – Click the selection box and then click any Game that is relevant to the Music Playlist to add it. You may choose more than 1 Game if the Music Playlist features Music related to multiple games in the franchise.
Tags – Start typing in the field to find any relevant Tags and click to add them.
If you want to add any new Tags, click the ‘Add New Tag’ button and in the popup box, enter the name of the Tag and click ‘Add Tag’. The Tag will be added to this Music Playlist post automatically but will appear in the choices when adding any new Music Playlist posts in the future.
If the Tag already exists you’ll be notified. Search for that Tag in the field instead to add it to the Music Playlist.
Please note that in order to help Fans find the content they want, adding Tags is mandatory (denoted by the red asterisk). Consider the Characters related to the Music Playlist, genres, or anything else that might be significant. Tags such as ‘Max’, ‘Indie Rock’, ‘Favourite Songs’, are all relevant, useful Tags.
Add To Music Playlist – This is where you can add Music to your new Music Playlist at the same time you are creating it. However, you do not actually have to select anything here when creating new Music Playlists. You can create an empty Music Playlist initially and then use the ‘Add To Music Playlist’ button on any Music post to add that Music to the new Music Playlist, which will appear in the box on the left once you’ve created it.
Privacy – The final field is where you set whether you want the new Music Playlist to be Public or Private.
Just check the desired box to determine the Privacy level. Public Music Playlists can be seen and Favourited by everyone. Private Music Playlists will not appear in public listings and if you add Music to them, it will not be counted towards the total count on the ‘Featured In {amount} Music Playlists’ modal on any single Music posts.
