Content Creator pages refers to pages for the actual creators of Fan Content on Life Is Strange Fans. This includes Fan Artists, Cosplayers, Writers, Musician and Video Creators.
Since the pages for different Creator types are mostly the same, we’ll cover all of them here.
There are multiple ways to add Creator pages to the website.
You can use the ‘My Content’ dropdown on the My Dashboard menu and select the appropriate content, e.g. Fan Artists.
On that page, there will be a button at the top which will open a modal with the relevant form.
The second way is to add new Creator from the main archive page for that Creator type, e.g. the Fan Artists Archive page. In this case, this is where all the Fan Artists on the site are listed. There is a button at the top of the page which will bring up the form for adding a new Fan Artist post.
The final method is while adding or editing a Fan Content post. For example, when adding a new Fan Art post, in the section where you have to select the Fan Artist to be assigned to this post as the Creator, at the bottom-right of this box, there is a ‘Add New Fan Artist’ button.
This will open up a modal-within-a-modal, and when you fill in the form for the Fan Artist and submit it, that Fan Artist will automatically be added to the selected Fan Artists in the Fan Artist box for that Fan Art.
The process is the same for all the content types. For example, you can add a new Cosplayer when adding or Editing a Cosplay post in the section where you have to select the Cosplayer/s to be assigned to the Cosplay post.
Adding Creator Forms
Since Creator pages are pretty much identical, we’ll use a Fan Artist form as an example. Here’s a breakdown.
Creator Name – This is the name of the Content Creator
Creator Bio – This a biography or description of the Content Creator.
After the first two items, the Creator forms are broken down into tabbed sections. The first one is Main Info.
Header Image – This is the large background image of the Header on the Creator page.
Photo/Avatar – This is a photo or main image of the Creator. Click the ‘Add Image’ button to upload the image from your computer or mobile device.
Another modal will pop up, where you can either select an existing image you’ve uploaded before, or upload a new one by clicking the ‘Upload Files’ tab:
If uploading a new image file, you can either drag it into the upload box or click the ‘Select Files’ button to select the image file from your computer:
The minimum Width and Height for Creator image files is 600px. This is because that is the cropped thumbnail size for the main listings on the site and the layout of those pages would not look optimal otherwise. The maximum file size has also been set at 3MB. This is to save on resources. We are hosting all media on Life Is Strange Fans on an Amazon S3 bucket and we’re paying a monthly charge for hosting those files as well as each time they’re requested by users visiting the site. There are lots of resources for reducing the file size of images without noticeably sacrificing quality, but we highly recommend Tiny JPG or Tiny PNG.
If you make a mistake or want to change the image assigned to this Creator post, click the ‘X’ icon in the top-tight of the image. You can then click the ‘Add Image’ button again to add a new image.
Country – This is where you can add what Country the Creator is from. Click the input box and start typing to make sure the Country you want to add isn’t already added. If the Country shows up, then you can just click it to select that Country. If nothing shows up, use the ‘Add Country’ button to add it now.
A modal will pop up. Type the name of the Country and click the ‘Add’ button. If you didn’t search earlier to see if the Country was already added and it does already exist on the site, you’ll see a notification informing you that it already exists.
Just close the modal, go back to the input box and start typing the Country to bring it up.
The next tab is Social Channels. This is where you can add any relevant social channels the Creator is active on.
For each social media network you check the box of, an input box will appear below. Make sure to paste the full URL here, including the https://www and not just the username on that network.
The social networks that appear in this list will differ for each Creator type. For example, DeviantArt will only show on Fan Art, Cosplay and Writer forms, and Soundcloud will only show on Musician forms.
The next tab is Content. This is where you assign the content by this Creator. You should always first use the search box to see if the Content already exists on the site. All relevant Content is listed in the box on the left (e.g, all Fan Art on the site will be listed if you’re on an Add Fan Artist form) and all the content of that type by this Creator will be listed on the right.
Note that if you’re editing this Creator page, the assigned Content may already be listed on the right. It should also be noted that when adding a new Creator page you do not actually have to assign the Content at the same time. You can just create the Creator page without any Content initially. This is because when you assign a Creator to a Content type when adding new Content, the field is bi-directional and, using the Fan Artist as an example again, if you selected a certain Fan Artist as the Creator on a Fan Art form, that Fan Art post will automatically get added to the Content field on the Fan Artist form/page.
If you want to remove any Content from the box on the right, hover over it and click the minus icon.
If you do want to add new Content to assign to the Creator now, you can use the ‘Add New {Content Type}’ button on the bottom-right. This will open a new modal-within-a-modal, where you can add the Content, e.g. Fan Art.
The final tab called ‘Verified’ will only show for Admins. This is for us to mark the Creator page as Verified – this means the page is managed by the Creator themselves, e.g. the Fan Artist. For information on how to apply to Request Ownership of a Creator page, please see the documentation on Browsing Content Creators.
